The magical ‘Golden Hour’ is a prime time of the day for photography and videography due to the gorgeous golden colours that lights up everything it touches.
Technically, Golden Hour is the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset, but it’s not always exact. The sunlight travelling through the dust and atmosphere of the Earth creates colours that are not usually seen at other times of the day.
The colours are more flattering for photos of people (portraits, families, weddings etc) because it gives a warm glowing colour to skin tones, making people look warmer and healthier, and with the sun lower to the horizon, the sideways light is much more flattering than light coming from high above.
It’s also a great time for landscape photography, with rich colours and long shadows.
