Need fast turn-around of your photos?
Editorial photography is the quickest form of photography that I do. How fast, you ask? This is what happened yesterday…
• Received phone call from the newspaper contact, with basic details of the photoshoot they need (who and where), and find out if I can do it today, sometimes that means now!
• Drop whatever I was doing and had planned to do (emails, quotes/editing/lunch/errands etc).
• Receive and send more emails and phone calls with more details about the brief.
• Ring the person to be photographed and confirm the time and location.
• By now lunch had gone cold….no, I didn’t give some of my homemade shepherds pie to our dogs
• Grab my gear.
• Drive 20 minutes to the location.
• Congratulate, then photograph the happy and excited parents, family, and friends.
• Drive 20 minutes back to the office.
• Upload the photos to my computer.
• Select 10-15 photos that match the brief the best.
• Do some basic editing on the chosen photos if needed.
• Save/export the photos.
• Send the photos to my contact.
• Job done!
Three-hour turn-around from first phone call to delivery!
Thankfully, most of my clients don’t need their photos this quickly, but efficiency IS something I offer every single client. I know that once you’ve decided to have professional photography done, it’s important to keep the momentum by doing your photoshoot as soon as possible and deliver your photos quickly.
